some more baptismal memories

Other important bits have come back with prompts from loved ones and just cause...
  • In the children's sermon the pastor of cong. 1 spoke of having baptized nearly all the children there, and of checking the records to see how many had "grace" in their names. MANY, many of the little girls of this church have Grace for a middle name.
  • My mother walking the aisles with Caroline in the remainder of the services after the baptism to keep her content, and from that position offering up a prayer of thanksgiving for the birth of Grace Katherine, the long-awaited daughter of my cousin Wendy, born just that day.
  • Pausing our conversations in the church basement to listen to the BEAUTIFUL song written for the day by Caroline's godparents Haddon and Katie (who are coming to town with Caroline's brand new Godsister Abby, very soon!) I really would like to put up the sound file, but I'm not sure how to do that. For now the words... that should have been shared long ago. Katie and Haddon were part of the presence, in Spirit, through this wonderful offering. How could I have failed to mention it?!
    Baby Caroline,
for all of us who surround you,
    you are a wonderful sign
of God's hope, God's love divine.
Through the dark days you'll pass
and through the sunny ones, too.
May God's love harness you always.
May you know God's promise true.
    On your baptism day,
    sweet tiny Caroline,
may you know in every way,
you are claimed and known by God divine.
    Baby Caroline,
for all of us who surround you,
    you are a wonderful sign
of God's hope, God's love divine.

Yes. Yes, she is.
